Oddly, just like the Day Sling 2, there is one zipper that doesn’t have the extra water resistant zipper. However I am used to difficult to use zippers as I own the Nomatic Travel Backpack too. New water resistant zippers are much more difficult to open than the Day Sling 2 because the zipper is much larger with more rubber surface area for the zipper to glide across (YKK size 10 vs 8).This bag is truly now my "Onebag" for practically all my needs: day bag, travel bag, luxurious looking and slim for an office bag, gym bag, and yes diaper/toy bag for my toddler's needs too. The bag looks great as the bag folds easier and looks much cleaner than the much stiffer Codura material. This new material is perfect for the compression clips. I really love the Travel Pack 2 but as a true onebagger I just wished that the bag would compact nicer and slimmer for a day pack or even office use since it has a great tech section. You may ask why would I order the same bag just in a new material. Since water can collect and pool up especially since it’s recessed.Īfter being impressed with the Day Sling 2 new material I ordered the Travel Pack 2 the following day. It would have been nice to see they did the same extra water resistant zipper liner with the hidden back compartment too.Though I cannot say the same for Travel Pack 2. The zipper's lining has been upgraded to extra water resistant made of rubber which usually makes the zipper harder to open but in this particular case it feels almost the same.I never had issues with finding items with the gray liner and probably would prefer a more muted color as it’s like opening a kid’s backpack with such a bright liner. As for the orange interior, I find it descent and nothing to run home about. A plus is the material is has enough structure and does not "print" the contents of my bag as I feared before. The sail material also wipes off any dust or spills much better than the thick weave nylon. Of course you feel the diamond weave but I feel the look and touch gives it a bit more luxury than the mainstream nylon found in most bags. The material is slightly louder but it’s smoother to the touch as you run your fingers across it. It is slightly thinner than the nylon, fully water resistance, a bit shinier, and has an awesome diamond weave pattern. Upon receiving the sling two days after ordering, I am thoroughly impressed by the material. I liked the thicker Ballistic Nylon because I sometimes off body carry my CCW when I can't appendix carry. ![]() My past knowledge of it was that sail is very thin that it would "print" or show off what is inside my sling and that the sail material will make a horrible crumpling sound. When the new material was released, I was hesitant to buy it because it was made of sail material. I am heavily biased towards the aesthetics and tech organization. Any longer of a trip, I would probably check in a regular medium size luggage to minimize wrinkles. At most, maybe a 4 day trip carry-on only bag to Las Vegas would be me pushing my packing limit. That being said, I rarely push my gear to the limit, as I’m not adventurous enough to solo travel for 4+ weeks or stay at hostels. My main transportation between all these areas is a car and I stay at hotels. This is a perspective from a regular dude who travels from the office, gym, and few international and domestic flights a year. ![]() But I will just share a few thoughts on the differences as I was curious if it was worth the upgrade and a few wishes I had for the travel bag. I won’t go into a full review of the travel pack 2 and slings as there are many write ups and videos covering every inch of the Codura versions.
